David Hockney is a English painter, draughtsman, print maker, stage designer and photographer. He is based in Bridlington, Yorkshire, and Kensington, London. He has two residences in Los Angeles which he has lived there 30 years. In the Early 1980s he started making picture collages which he named joiners. An early photomontage was of his mother. Because the photographs are taken from different perspectives and at slightly different times, and different angles. He was very frustrated with photographs because he believed that they were fake and that they didn`t have any life, he turned photography into an artform. He mainly focused on daily mundane things, it was about the bigger picture. All the tiny images create the bigger picture.
I have chosen this image because there is so much going on in one picture, also i like how he has used multiple images to create one big one it gives off the sense that he has worked hard and long on this image. There is colour, texture, shape and pattern in this picture. He`s used the technique overlapping because everyone of his individual pictures are over lapping another.
Narrative
Narrative means a the idea of photographs can tell a story. Allen Feldman stated that "the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated. In this case, the medium is photography.
Here are just a few narrative ideas :collages, joiners, multiple images, best day of your life, memory, birthday

What went well: its interesting, i like how you've made some images in and out of focus and have used different depths of fields to blur the background or the fore ground and has created a good effect on your piece of work.
Even Better If,you take more images of you walking around etc or if you add a bit more of a story or try and take the pictures in a different way like a moving image or a moving camera.

Jo Metson Scott and Nicola Yeomans
I really like this image by Jo Scott and Nicola Yeomans because its a scene with a huge back story, even with one glance you start to think how did that car get there, wheres the driver, why is it in a spooky grey forest and why is there a long trail of roots from trees travelling back to the car ?
This piece of work inspired me to take the effect of one of they're pieces of art and transfer it into one of my own, in the next photo-shoot i am going to go on photo-shop and mess with the settings to give off the spooky grey effect, and also take a picture of something which has a back story. The techniques they use in this image are very good, they have used lighting to they're advantage and also used depth of field .
There are also many visual elements in this image such as line in the trees and on the car where it separates each window, there is colour all in the picture, there is also shape , the shape of the car and the tress and the long trail of the branches leading towards the car. I have started to experiment with a camera at home using the techniques Jo Scott has used in all his pieces or work, i have just chosen this one because it is in my opinion the most interesting one, the one where your mind thinking of a back story can go on forver.

Duane Michals
This piece of photography is named rencontre fortuites and is narrative, it explains a story, in my eyes it looks like the father lost his son and he passes his son in a alley and recognises him then the son realises that it could be biological father. These photos were taken in the 1970's .It is set in an alleyway and there are two men involved in it. There are buildings on each side and gives off the impression that there is no escape and a tight and clostraphobic scene.
The older bloke passes the younger one and then looks back as if he knows him then the older bloke goes out of the picture whilst the younger man is looking behind him. There is use of depth of field in this work, you can see it at the end of the alley where this piece of work is set. All 6 images are in black and white and have been made by Duane Michals going onto photo-shop and editing all 6 images exactly the same.

This picture is showing that when you are young you look up to your parents but as you grow you need them less and less and then eventually they pass. The parent misses the child but has his life to live and has to be capable of venturing the journey of life alone.
